About Richi

Introduction
Born in London, brought up in England and Australia. Richi has a background incorporating British, Aussie, Indian and Sikh culture. He began DJing in the early 1990's, organising the first ever Bollywood and Bhangra club nights in Melbourne. In 2004, Richi left behind careers in Law and IT to follow his passion of music full time.

Events DJ, MC & Live Dhol Drummer
First and foremost he’s an Entertainer, a professional DJ, MC and Live Dhol Drummer. Based in Melbourne, he performs across Australia and overseas. As they say, “Music is food for the soul” and for Richi it’s all about rocking the house. Performing at shows is his first love. Music Producer & Songwriter
In addition to DJing, Richi's writing songs to express his creative talent. In 2009, he released his debut track Diwali Aayi Hai, the first Diwali song from down under, following the success of mix cd Bollywood Summer 2008. In September 2018, Richi dropped his first ever music video Papa for Father's Day in Australia and released his debut album Reflection. He performed bhangra track Mere Punjab Da Nahi Jawab at the launch party in Melbourne (click here to view video) and received a message of congratulations from British Asian legend Apache Indian (watch here).

Sound Therapist, Intuitive/Spiritual Counsellor & Hypnotherapist
For Diwali 2018, Richi launched a new project Awakening Healing, embracing his passion for helping others with Sound Therapy, Intuitive/Spiritual Counselling and Hypnotherapy. His life experience has led him to combine music, sound and healing.

Acting & Voiceover Artist
Richi's been acting and doing voiceovers for many years, appearing on various shows and advertisements on national television including Utopia (ABC), City Homicide (Channel 7), The Elephant Princess (Channel 10) and Australian movie Sucker (featuring Timothy Spall of Harry Potter fame).

Radio DJ
Richi was the first DJ in Melbourne to promote Bhangra and Bollywood music on mainstream radio. He guest DJ’d on Kiss FM, Radio National, Triple R and Radio Australia, as well as TV presenting on Channel 31.

In 2009, he became the first DJ in Melbourne to host an Indian music show on a mainstream station (PBS FM). The

Journalist
In 1993, Richi began his journalist career as music editor for Australian newspaper Indian Voice. He’s spent over two decades interviewing celebrities, reviewing live shows and industry trends.

Richi's
Groove Nation column features in The Indian Sun and magazine Hello Bollywood. He's interviewed AR Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire), Panjabi MC, Bally Sagoo, Rishi Rich, Apache Indian and himself been interviewed by The Age, Herald Sun, Times of India, India Today and Rolling Stones.

Events Manager
Richi's been organising, promoting and co-ordinating events since 1993, ranging from large scale club nights and dance parties to shows at major festivals and corporate gatherings. His philosophy is all about attention to detail and developing concepts which add value for his clients.

In 2004 he founded
Rhythm & Spice, a company specialising in Bollywood themed parties, the first of its kind in Melbourne. As an events manager and entertainer, he's seen first hand what works and what doesn’t and has developed an intimate knowledge of the many aspects required to make an event truly unique and successful.
